Put simply, it is the practice of "thankful appreciation" of all the positive factors that are already around us. By opening our eyes and thoughtfully reflecting on these aspects of life that bring us great joy, feelings of happiness are created. It can be applied to any event in the past, present and future.
If practiced regularly it will help to unlock the fullness of life by promoting positive thoughts.
Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships by stopping errant negative thoughts and the insatiable longing of what’s just out of our reach.
Research indicates that those who practice gratitude have lower self-reported levels of depression, stress and anxiety, whilst being more satisfied with their social relationships. Studies also show that daily gratitude can also improve sleep, decrease blood pressure, whilst increasing energy levels, Happiness, Self Esteem and Confidence.
Hypnotherapy is not always necessary for Gratitude Therapy.
Counselling Skills & Psychotherapy can be used to practice Gratitude.
Gratitude is normally used in conjunction with other treatments for symptoms such as Depression, Anxiety/Stress, Self Esteem and Confidence.
We offer one off Gratitude Sessions to help kick start, or refresh, your Gratitude practices.
Here are some ways to cultivate gratitude on a regular basis.
Write a thank-you note. You can make yourself happier and nurture your relationship with another person by writing a thank-you letter expressing your enjoyment and appreciation of that person's impact on your life.
Keep a gratitude journal. Make it a habit to write down or share with a loved one thoughts about the gifts you've received each day. We have several Gratitude Journals available to purchase. You can click here to view our Journals.
Pray. People who are religious can use prayer to cultivate gratitude.
